I have never downloaded YouTube videos before but I recently started looking for plug-ins and hacks which let me do it. I found an excellent trick on TNW that lets me do this in an elegant, browser independent way.

I’ve used it a couple of times and it just works perfectly. The reason for downloading videos is simply because they get deleted sometimes or I want to view them later on my Ipod.

All you have to do is remove a few letters from the URL and add two others in their place.
